Travel Guide: Must-See Tourist Spots in Rome (+OOTD)

DSC00451Hello beautiful people! If you follow me on Instagram (@emsies_emily), then you know that I just returned from an amazing Spring Break trip to Rome, Italy with my mom! This was my second time in the city and I can’t help but feeling like Lizzie McGuire when I’m there. The city is insanely beautiful with so much to see and so much amazing food to try. On our first day in Rome, we went to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and Piazza de Republica!

When I think of Rome, I think of it’s colorful buildings often covered in pastel colors. Partly because I forgot Europeans wear a lot of black, I tried to pack outfits with a lot of color because I couldn’t pass up taking photos with these beautiful backgrounds! See my outfit details below!DSC00402

Top: Forever21 | Pants: Nine West | Shoes: Target (similar ones here) | Hat: Target | Purse: Coach | Sunglasses: Free People | Lipstick: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in “Beetroot” (see review here) | Nail Polish: OPI “You’re such a Budapest”

I loved that the lace on this top allowed me to make this a very feminine outfit!

One thing that is extraordinary about Rome is that there are SO many sites to see! I recommend taking three days in the city: one for seeing the sites in the pictures above, one for going to the vatican, and one for seeing the Colosseum and Roman Forums.

Trevi Fountain– you have to make a wish here! I’m always mind blown this fountain is on the backside of a building!DSC00397IMG_9332

Colosseum– Definitely recommend taking a tour here! It was crazy to learn about how many animal and human sacrifices were made inside the Colosseum as well as what it was like to be alive during the time it was being built.DSC00472DSC00497DSC00492

Roman Forums– first off, let me say that the Roman ruins are gigantic! The views were amazing and I loved learning about the empire.DSC00545DSC00524IMG_9391

I found it really handy to carry a Quecha bookbag and purse with me. The purse allowed to easy access to stuff and the bookbag made carrying a sweater easy!

Piazza Navona– such a great place to grab a gelato and admire the surroundings!DSC00464

Breakfast every morning was filled cold cuts, pastries, and strong Italian coffee!

Italians love their meat and cheese so we got so many appetizers of prosciutto, salami, cheese, and vegetables!DSC00376

Antico Caffe Castellino Bruschette– I think it’s funny how much stuff we Americanize and bruschetta is definitely one of them. I loved trying real brushetta which is actually seasoned fresh tomatoes on bread (rather than a tomato spread like in the US).Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetAnd of course I tried to get my filling of pasta and pizza because if you know me then you know that pizza is my favorite food. 🙂Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

IMG_9307If you haven’t been convinced yet, let me just tell you that Rome is STUNNING and a must see city! Thanks to my mom for traveling with me and taking my photos and thanks to my dad for making this trip happen! Follow all my adventures on my “Travels” tab!
