My New Favorite Fall B&BW Candle!

Hello everyone! Fall is notorious for being the season that Bath & Body Works releases amazing candle scents. I hadn’t gotten the chance to stop in one of the stores and smell the new products until this evening!

I have decided that my new favorite candle is the one called “Bourbon Butterscotch”. It smells like the perfect mix of butterscotch, caramel/ sugar, and a tiny bit of bourbon. I could just see myself lighting the candle in my room and having it instantly make the space more warm and cozy. I don’t know maybe I liked the bourbon candle the most because I was born a Kentucky girl. πŸ™‚

Here are all the notes in the candle. Doesn’t that just make you want to immediately take it home?

Lastly, I wanted to mention that B&BW is having a 50% off Fall scents sale so you should definitely take advantage of that and stock up on candles! You should also sign up for their newsletter online but it always includes coupons! Hope you enjoyed this post!

REVIEW: B&BW Honey Sweetheart Instant Hair Highlights- Bronze

Hi everyone!
I have a product that I am so excited to tell you about today! For about four months now, I’ve been wanting to either color the ends of my hair or find a temporary way to do it.

This product is the Bath & Body Works Honey Sweetheart Instant Hair Highlights in the color bronze. This is the best product I have found for achieving this look on my dark black hair. I have tried other products like hair chalk and this spray is just simply the best.

Here are a few pros and cons about the product:

Pros:

  • Easily gives you a bronze color to your hair
  • Smells great- like honey!
  • Washes out after one shower

Cons:

  • Β A little messy- I applied this with a plastic glove on so I could hold my hair without getting product on my shirt.
  • Took a few more sprays than I anticipated needing to get to the desired color (but the results are great!)

The only unfortunate thing about this product is that Bath & Body Works isn’t selling it on their main website anymore. I found mine during their semi-annual sale in the store which may still be going on now. You can also probably find this product on Amazon or ebay. It retails for around $9.99.

Let me know what you think! Also let me know if you’ve tried any other great bronze hair highlight products that you could recommend!

Xoxo,
Emily

My Favorite $1 Products!!

With a lot of people on budgets these days, I thought this would be a helpful post! Here are products that I absolutely love but only cost a $1!!!!

E.L.F. Hypershine Lipgloss
(These are sheer but have really good lasting power and smell good!)

E.L.F. Super Glossy Lip Shine

These are super pigmented (except Honey Do and Juiced Berry) and creamy! They are a bit sticky but last a really long time!

Wet n’ Wild Lipliner
Pigmented and long-lasting! What more would you want?

Wet n’ Wild Wild Shine Nail Color Polish
I have these nail polishes in 7 shades. My favorite one is 468 Metallica! It is a gorgeous metallic silver color and doesn’t chip for a really long time (I forgot to include it in the picture but I posted a picture of it below!)! I gave this to my friend as a present and she likes it too!

468 Metallica

Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer andΒ  Holder
This isn’t $1 but it is really close! The individual hand sanitizer cost $1.50 each but some of the holders only cost 50 cents! Also, Bath & Body Works has a 5 for $5 deal too on the hand sanitizers! These are just super convenient and keep your hands clean throughout the day!

I hope this was a helpful post! Let me know what are your favorite products that cost only $1!! πŸ™‚

7 Beauty Essentials for College!!

Here are some things that I think are going to be essential to have in college!! Good luck to everyone and I hope you have a great year!

1) Makeup wipes!
These are going to be so convenient for late nights when you’re ready to just go to sleep! It is so much easier to wipe off your makeup then taking time to wash it off.
Product Suggestion-

MAC Wipes (30 wipes)– $15 So this is clearly a high end option. I will say though that these do leave a little bit of an oily residue on your face. I wouldn’t use this during the day to fix smudged makeup. This is best before going to sleep. I heard some people say that it also makes your skin a little better (like reducing pores).

2) Moisturizing Face and Body Lotion!

You’re going to want a good moisturizer because dorm rooms can get cold at night &Β that’ll dry out your skin.
Product Suggestion-
Left: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (Face)- $24.50- You get 4.2 fl oz in this product so that’s a lot of lotion for the price! This has been voted for many years into the Seventeen Magazine Besties Beauty Awards as the best moisturizer! It’s really nice because it is absorbed quickly into your skin!
Right: Bath & Body Works Body Butter- $15- You get 7 oz of product for that price. These are super thick and moisturizing! The Dark Kiss scent is my favorite (especially for colder weather)!

3) Face Sunscreen!

You are going to be outside a lot since you will have to walk around campus to get to your classes. It’s also perfect for the days that you want to study on the quad! Sunscreen designed for your face is important to apply every morning before you head outside.
Product Suggestion-
Clinique Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 40- $18- This has a bit of a tint to it but it disappears when you blend it in. It also doubles as a foundation primer! This isn’t greasy and is fast absorbing which I love!

clinique-super-city-block-SPF-40.jpeg

4) Lip Balm!

Your lips are going to get dry from talking to so many new people so lip balm is a necessity! Most lip balms have SPF in them and are just good for moisturizing your lips in general.

Product Suggestion-

Left: Soft Lips SPF 15- $4// Right: ChapStick– SPF 4- $2
Product I don’t recommend:
Nivea Lip Balms– I’m not sure why but these just don’t feel good on my lips. It feels like they just sit on my lips and don’t get absorbed which is really annoying..

5) Hand Sanitizer

Shaking hands, opening doors, and paying with cash will make your hands super dirty. You especially want to make sure your hands are clean before eating meals!

Product Suggestion:

Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial PocketBac Sanitizing Hand Gel- $1.50 each or 5 for $5- These are super convenient and smell really good! You get 1 fl oz in each bottle. You can also get a holder (perfect for your purse!) for them and those are usually priced from $0.50 to $5.

6) Dry Shampoo

Perfect for the days when you are too lazy to take a shower or just when you want to refresh your hair. Lol This doesn’t require any water or washing. I find myself using dry shampoos a lot around exam time so I definitely recommend it for that time of year! Don’t worry dry shampoos don’t leave a white/ gray powdery residue in your hair if you massage it in.

Product Suggestions:

Left- Oscar Blandi Volumizing Dry Shampoo– 1.4 oz bottle (travel size!) cost $11, 5 oz bottle cost $23- This is the high end option.
Right- Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo- $4
Product I don’t recommend: Tresemme Dry Shampoo Yes I know I raved a lot about this product when I first got it but now I have realized that it makes my hair too sticky after I apply it! It does smell nice though. HahaΒ Β

7) Anti- Dark Eye Circles Product

There are a lot of late nights ahead of us.. haha Enough said.
Product Suggestion:
Garnier Fructis Nutritioniste Anti Puff Roller (Left: with concealer, Right: without concealer)- $12- I have heard only good things about this product! This product is meant to reduce puffiness under and around your eyes. The rollerball apparently feels really nice and cold when you apply the product. The solution contains caffeine in it so it truly does make your eyes look more awake. The roller with concealer supposedly has a sheer tint of color that can blend into any skin color.

Necessity for people with oily skin: Mattifying Makeup Setting Spray
Product Suggestion:
Urban Decay DeSlick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray (Left) or Skindinavia No More Shine Makeup Finish (Right)- Both 4 oz bottles cost $29 each- These two products, formula and ingredients, are actually exactly the same. You are supposed to spray this on your face before and after you apply your makeup and it will make your makeup last for 16 hours! It takes away any shine or oil for that time period as well! Also, if you have on makeup that looks cakey, then spraying this over it will make it look more natural. The Urban Decay product is available at Sephora, ULTA, and Macy’s whereas the Skindinavia bottle is only available at www.skindinavia.com.

Let me know if you are starting college this year and what your beauty essentials are!! πŸ™‚ Good luck to everyone!

How To Keep Skin Healthy After Swimming In The Pool!

I went swimming the other day and realized that there are a lot of things I do after I swim to maintain the health of my skin. Swimming pools are not the cleanest place and also contain a lot of chlorine which can and will seriously dry out your skin.

1.) Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Sweat resistant sunscreen is pretty hard to get off. Exfoliating is the best way. Products I recommend: Bath & Body Works Smoothing Body Scrub ($12.50) and Mary Kay Exotic Passionfruit ($15).

2.) Hydrate. After you exfoliate, your skin needs to be hydrated to keep your next layer of skin from being dry. Using a gauze sponge, I guess it’s also called a loofah, will help get the rest of the dead skin off. I am currently using the Dial NutriSkin with Fruit Oil Ultra Hydrating Body Wash. I also like the Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash and Olay Mica Minerals Body Wash Plus Tone Enriching Ribbons. I’ve heard the Dove Cool Moisture Body Wash and the Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Body Wash are good.

3.) Moisturize. Chlorine tends to dry out your skin to the point that you get that chalky, white look to your skin. At least that’s how it was for me. I was a competitive swimmer for several years and never used to use lotion. One day at school I was sitting on the floor and my friend passed me and went “Whoa, you need some lotion.” Anyways, this will sound weird, but I feel like when you use lotion after being exposed to chlorine, it kind of makes the chlorine come off of your skin. I don’t know why I think that but I think it’s because I could smell the chlorine once I started to put lotion on. But yeah to bring a lot of moisture to your skin, I recommend Bath & Body Work’s Triple Moisture Creams and their body butters. They are both very fast absorbing so you don’t have to worry about the greasy feeling on your skin afterwards. I also recommend the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion and the Burt’s Bee’s Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion.

4.) Repair. Every night I use the Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Overnight Regenerating Cream. Being in the pool means being exposed to the sun. I suggest a cream like the one I use to repair your skin after sun damage.

5.) Treat. Like your skin, your hair will be dried out from chlorine. Therefore, you need to nourish it with a hair mask or leave-in-condition. I personally use the Garnier Fructis Leave in Conditioning Cream. This makes my hair feel really thick after every use. I have also heard that the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask works well, too.

I hope this helps! Enjoy the rest of your Summer by the pool! πŸ˜€ I have one more month till school starts! I can’t wait!!
