Colored Haircare Routine

Shampoo | Conditioner | Leave-In Conditioner

As many of you know, I’m back in school because I’m pursuing my MBA. These past few weeks have been nothing short of heavy amounts of work. The type where I’m constantly doing something (case studies, studying for finals, homeworks, etc.) and as soon as I finish one assignment, there’s another to do. On top of all of that, I’ve been doing the Insanity workouts which are supposed to be 6 days a week (will do a separate blog post about this soon). It certainly has been a balancing act to do school, find a job, run two blogs, workout, be social, and see family and sometimes it feels like I’m doing the motions just to make it through each day. I know though that all the hard work will pay off and will lead to so much fun and success in the future so I’m staying positive and pushing through it all.

Transitioning to today’s post, I’ve been wanting to share the way I take care of my colored treated hair! I’ve had it colored for the past 2.5 years and have found the products that really work for me! Keep scrolling to learn more!

It only takes a few steps and only requires 4 products: A 1/2 inch curling wand (I recommend the conair one!), bobby pins, clear elastics, and hairspray! Let’s get into it!

Grad Shoot - Emily-52.jpgHey everyone! I have been obsessed with having color back in my hair again! Since I lightened the ends of my hair, I really care about preserving the color and making it as vibrant as possible. Recently, I’ve been using the HASK Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Hair Care Collection and love the way my hair feels and looks! “Found in the African desert, the kalahari melon thrives by retaining moisture in the driest conditions” and the oil comes from this fruit! This entire line shields and replenishes hair and is made without sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol, and artificial colors. Here are the items in this line:d8wnqflr3ybbgrqrytbq_hask_kalahari_ingredient_lineup_original_reflection_rgb_3 Continue reading

3-Step Guide: How to Curl Your Hair With a Straightener!

DSC_6781Hello everyone! Last month, I worked with Hannah Lozano to shoot some pics of a winter outfit (see post here)! What most of you probably didn’t know is that the curls in the post were actually made by using a straightener instead of a curling iron! I’m so excited to teach you how to curl your hair with your straightener today! Here is the guide as well as some reasons why you should learn this skill:

  • Using a straightener gives you more natural looking curls that look less like ringlets then when you use a curling iron
  • You can pack lighter when you travel because you will only have to bring one tool instead of two
  • If you already have a straightener then you could save money by not buying a curling iron
