REVIEW: Maybelline Volum’ Express Mega Plush Mascara

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to review the Maybelline Volum’ Express Mega Plush Mascara because it is unfortunately a product I do not like.
Here are the claims:
• Our first gel-mousse mascara with 40% less hard waxes for massive volume with a supple touch
• Extra-soft, patented Flexor Brush caresses lashes
• Lashes never brittle or flaky

Now then, I bought this product because I was really intrigued by the “gel-mousse” idea because I thought this just sounded very rich and means the mascara doesn’t have a
watery formula. The formula I do like, it doesn’t make your lashes hard, and it doesn’t flake. I do wish the formula was slightly more thick but for the most part it’s good.
The disappointing part for me is the brush. The claim is that it’s flexible and bends so I thought this would be a great way to get all the hard-to-reach lash areas. However the brush makes this mascara pretty useless. It’s so bendy that you can’t even apply a thick coat of mascara. I think there is no way someone can build full lashes with this brush. I honestly may just stick a different wand in the formula so I can finish up the mascara. Definitely something I will not repurchase. Sorry for the negative review but I think these are just as helpful as positive reviews!

Let me know what you think if you’ve tried this mascara!

Xoxo,
Emily

As you all probably know, a while ago Almay came out with the Intense i-color Powder Shadows which are eyeshadow trios customized for your specific eye color. However, I personally have not tried these products. They would be good to try if you like having eyeshadows designed to bring out your natural eye color!

Vibrant Violet! A Gorgeous Spring Eyeshadow Look!

Spring is almost here and that means you can use tons of colors in your makeup again! My personal favorite color to wear on my eyes is purple because I have brown eyes and it helps bring them out. Purple looks nice on any color eye though! Here are two eye looks that I did.. they look very similar but one is more affordable than the other. I get complimented on this look all the time so I wanted to share it with you all!
First I began by priming my eyes. I use a concealer [$9] (which I did a review on) to do this step but a real eyeshadow primer would probably work better (I don’t really know though because I have never owned a real eyeshadow primer. lol)

Next, I used my Mary Kay Soft Luster Eye Color Stick in Violet Dawn as a base.
Before I get to the next steps, here are products that I used for the less expensive way to achieve a vibrant violet look!
Next, I used the Elf Brightening Eye Pot which is actually a lavender-ish color (#2 in the picture) to lighten up the lid color.                                                                                             Since the look wasn’t as vibrant as I would like it to be, I used the Jessie’s Girl Eye Dust in Ultra Violet [$4] and this added tons of sparkles and dimension! 🙂
After the eyeshadow, I lined my water-line with Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Black 201 [$7]. I used the Maybelline Ultra Liquid Liner in Black (#6) [$7.50] for my top eyeliner but I used the brush from the Fresh Minerals Liquid Liner [#4] (the product in there is dry now) because it is very precise. Then I used two types of Maybelline mascara to coat my eyelashes (#1- $7.50 and #5- $7.50)! Below is the finished look! Sorry I can’t look directly at the camera during these pictures because if I do then you won’t be able to see the eyeshadow very well because of Asian eyelids :/ lol oh well.

Alright! Here is the version using a MAC Pigment in Nocturnelle.
I started the same way with the concealer as an eyeshadow primer. However, I did not use a base because MAC Pigments [$19.50] are amazing and go on very pigmented! I did the same steps with the eyeliner and mascara as mentioned in the paragraph above. This look is a little brighter than the other one.
I hope you enjoyed this post and try this look!! Let me know what you think! Happy Spring!!

Bronze Makeup Look Inspired By Ashley Benson and Review on Pretty Little Liars!!

Alright so lately I have been hooked on the show Pretty Little Liars. It is sooo suspenseful but not too scary (because I am the biggest wuss when it comes to scary movies lol). It is about 4 girls who were best friends with a girl who went missing and now they are trying to find out who murdered her. It is such a good show and I have no idea how it is going to end! All the girls are also extremely pretty and have such great clothes on the show!

One of the girls in particular, Ashley Benson who plays Hannah, always seems to stun me with her gorgeous makeup and outfits! I’m always wondering what she is going to wear next! I wanted to show you all this bronzy/ golden makeup look that was inspired by Ashley Benson!

Well the camera does not do much justice to this first picture but basically I went for a very shimmery gold color on the lids and a coppery lip color. Everything in this look was very glittery and would look great in any season!
In the pictures below, you will hopefully be able to see how much shimmer is in the eyeshadow and lipstick/ lipgloss. Yea I’m not much of a matte makeup person haha
List of Products
  1. Lancome 3-D Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black
  2. Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Waterproof Mascara
  3. Maybelline Eye Studio Quad in “Give Me Gold” (I used the copper color on top of the MAC eyeshadow to add a more bronzy color and I mixed the gold and white color for the inner corner.)
  4. Estee Lauder Pure Pops Lip Gloss in Sugar Pie
  5. MAC Mineralized Dual Eyeshadow in Mayhem (I used this without a base and look how vibrant it is on the picture of my eyes!!)
  6. Estee Lauder Lipstick in Tiger Eye
  7. Revlon Eyelash Curler
– Earrings that I am wearing in the pictures are also in the picture above.
Let me know what you think of Ashley Benson, if you like this look, or if you like Pretty Little Liars!! I highly recommend the show!
