How To: Miley Cyrus Inspired Braided-Wavy Hair!

Here is the look that inspired me when I was doing my friend’s hair! I love how Miley’s hair adds a soft, bohemian twist to an otherwise edgy outfit. Here are the tools I used and pictures of each step to achieving this look!

From left to right: (1) Aussie Heat Protecting Shine Spray (2) Revlon 3 Barrel Waver

    (3) Conair 1″ Curling Iron

Directions:
Step 1: The 3 Barrel Waver works best on straight hair. Brush through hair so that there are no tangles. Also for this look, make sure to use a center part.

Step 2: Section off your hair if you have a lot of thick hair. You should be working with only the bottom layer for this part. Use the 3 Barrel Waver on this section of hair. It should look like the second picture below. Use hairspray to lock in this section.

Step 3: Use the Waver on the rest of your hair and hairspray it.

Step 4: Take two 1″ thick pieces of hair on both sides of the part and braid them. At the back of your head, tie them together with a rubber band.
Step 5: To finish off the look, use the 1″ curling iron to curl the pieces of hair that frame your face!

And voila! That’s how you do it! Let me know what you think of this tutorial and whether or not you like how it turned out on my beautiful friend! 🙂

Favorite Drugstore Line: Revlon Colorstay!!

In my opinion, Revlon is the brand that is the highest quality in drugstores. My mom loves it and so do I! Their Colorstay line though is by far the best thing I have ever tried from a drugstore! Here are some products that I love from the line!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation– HOLY GRAIL, HOLY GRAIL PRODUCT!! I sweat really easily and this doesn’t come off at all. When you wipe your hand or sleeve across your face this doesn’t leave a single mark! I have worn this when I run and play tennis and it really does not budge. I love it! It is definitely worth the $12-13 dollars!

Under Eye Concealer SPF 15– I think this has the same formula as the foundation. It dries pretty quickly and doesn’t sink into fine lines.

Eyeliner– For the longest time, this was my favorite eyeliner because it was the most waterproof one I could find. Recently it hasn’t worked as well for me (it started smudging) but the black color is really dark so I love that. I have been using it everyday to tight line my upper water line. If you don’t have oily skin, this will work really well for you.

One product that I don’t recommend:

Overtime Lipcolor– Alright so.. I tried this product and it is extremely flakey.. The color is really nice and pigmented but when you apply a second layer of this, it starts getting peely and uncomfortable. Like after wearing it for 10 mins, I had to completely wipe it off. The gloss on the other end though is really nice and comes with a brush applicator. The color side comes with a doe foot applicator.

Let me know what your favorite drugstore line or Revlon product is!

How To Get Big Bold Beachy Waves!

I have always loved the way relaxed wavy hair looked but was never achieve it because of my thick pin straight hair. I have found a way that works for me and wanted to share it with you all! Last summer at a camp, my roommate pulled out this huge hair iron that I had never seen before. It was a 3 barrel iron and made her hair gorgeously wavy. I asked her if I could try it and loved the way my hair turned out! I went to Target last week and saw one just like it and it only cost $23! Here is a picture of it. It is the Revlon Perfect Heat Ceramic 3-Barrel Jumbo Waver.

How to use: It opens up and you put a few strands of hair between the plate and the barrels. When you push down on the handle, the barrels will compress your hair and make it wavy! The barrels are 1-inch barrels and are the perfect size!

When I first saw this, I thought it was going to work by wrapping your hair around the different barrels or something but it is actually very easy to use! You might even be able to use it as a curling iron and curl two pieces of hair at once! This product comes with a dial of 30 heat options and heats up in 30 seconds. The only bad thing about it is that is a little big so it might be annoying to travel with. However, it comes with a ring on the back of it so you can clamp the handle down and it will take up less room.

After I use the iron, I like to finish off my hair with the Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Hairspray! This is in the scent Sunset Citrus and only costs $3.59. It totally reminds me of the beach! I wish I could spray this all over my body as a perfume because I love the smell! It smells like a mix of oranges and peaches! This hairspray is perfect because it holds the hair in place but doesn’t make it all that crunchy if you don’t concentrate it in one area.

Let me know your secret for achieving big and bold beachy waves!
